XPE stands for chemically crosslinked polyethylene foam material. It is produced by continuously foaming high-density, low-density polyethylene resin at high temperatures, using a crosslinking agent and a blowing agent. Compared to EPE (physically foamed polyethylene, commonly known as "pearl cotton"), XPE boasts higher tensile strength and finer cell structure. XPE foam is a high-density foam with a skin-like surface and a closed-cell structure, featuring low water absorption and a low thermal conductivity. It offers excellent sound insulation, vibration damping, waterproofing, and mold resistance, making it ideal for use in various humid environments. XPE exhibits stable chemical properties, is resistant to decomposition, odorless, and highly elastic. It is the preferred material for manufacturing crawling mats, soundproofing layers, thermal insulation layers, and automotive floor mats. Additionally, XPE serves as an ideal insulation material for automobiles and air-conditioning systems. In recent years, it has seen rapid growth in the sports and leisure products market, such as surfboards, karate mats, and yoga mats. As a new type of material, XPE foam also finds certain applications in construction, including use as floor slab soundproofing and vibration-damping pads, pipe insulation materials that provide noise reduction and corrosion protection, underfloor heating insulation and soundproofing pads for flooring, moisture-proof and leak-proof building materials, and reflective thermal insulation materials for roofs and walls—its applications are truly diverse.
